I am Vistaphotography hear me roar! What this translates into is that our businesses are getting in tune with the social media...?
WOW You say you aren't up on any social media sites???
This is where your customers are hanging out and you need to be also.
So I twitter, therefore I am, as Shakespeare might have said if he were writing stories today and if he wanted to inform his fans that he had a new book coming out!
Or he might leverage all his fans on his Facebook page! (My Facebook for VistaPhotography is here, if you'd like to come by and become a fan of mine) And we can put out events like the fairy day photo session I just had last Saturday in Marblehead. I photographed a bunch of kids for free and made them into fairies in photoshop. The parents loved it! (Pictures here)
ANYWAY!!! We get our business names out into the blogosphere through software like Blogger and Wordpress to name a minuscule few. (hundreds more)

How you get your business name out in front of your customers is easier than you might think.
If you maintain a blog today (and who doesn't?) You add liberal amounts of links back to your website (Like this) and maybe to your friends websites and then you wait for the traffic to come rolling in... Let's say that doesn't happen, then maybe you join twitter which is a micro blog in real time service.
Instead of writing your blog such as I'm doing here and hoping Google picks it up you can also "Tweet" about your blog entry and send it out to those who follow your Tweets... They (your followers) will get it immediately (real time). Also since your blog normally can't fit into a tweet which is limited to 140 characters you can put just the url to your blog there.. and if you still don't have the room???

Then go to tiny url or my favorite tr.im and you can paste in your real long url and they will transform it to a very short one for free! (at least for now)

In the end, we as business owners have to keep abreast of the tech wave and stay in front of our customers eyes. So leave me a comment on Twitter or Facebook or here and let me know what you do to leverage todays wave of social media...?
Has anyone done a Facebook AD yet???

  1. I joined your group on Facebook and also added you as a friend. I am also following you on Twitter. No, I'm not a stalker, I'm just a blogging, photography, and writing addict who thinks I can learn from you.
